Barney House Annexe is situated in the village of Flaxton, 9 miles North East of York. It is ideal for exploring both the city of York and the surrounding countryside and coast. Map

Castle Howard, one of England's finest country houses, and the location for the BBC's Brideshead Revisited series, is just a few minutes away.

The A64, a mile away, leads to the seaside resorts of Scarborough, Bridlington, Filey, Robin Hoods Bay, and Whitby, as well as the North Yorkshire Moors National Park.

Flaxton's pub, The Blacksmith's Arms (left), just a hundred yards away, provides excellent food and a selection of real ales.

Just outside the village, Tykes Restaurant is also worth a visit. This is attached to Sandburn Hall, an 18 hole golf course.

For some retail therapy, there is the York Designer Outlet, just a few miles away along the A64.
